1955

Upon the death of her husband, Ebba Hoffman steps into the role of president and CEO of Smead.

Ebba Hoffman introduces plaid packaging design and bright colors to the Smead product line.

1958

Smead purchases Yale Filing Supplies in Los Angeles, California, adding new products and new territories to the operations.

1960

Ebba Hoffman is the first woman to receive the "Distinguished Service Award" by the U.S. Junior Chamber of Commerce.

1961

Smead opens new 140,000-square-foot corporate headquarters.

Smead opens new manufacturing plants in Los Angeles and Logan, Ohio.

1965

Sharon Avent begins work at Smead as an hourly office employee.

1968

1974
